Story….. Samantar begins with Kumar Mahajan (Swapnil Joshi) talking to someone over the phone while driving a car. He tells the person that he lacks belief in the existence of God or gods. Soon after, he meets with a very bad accident and is shown gravely injured. The scene then jumps to Sharad Vapgaonkar taking his friend Kumar to meet a Swami.

Owing to his disbelief in God or gods, Kumar is reluctant but Sharad insists. They enter an unclean slum area which invites cold remarks from Kumar about the Swami’s credibility. Sharad informs Swami that his friend Kumar is an atheist and also that his life is in ruins. Kumar asserts that he only believes in the present and knows only of birth but not death. Swami replies saying that the road to the destination is made up of the lines on his hands and forehead plus the position of planets in his birth chart.
